I did not vote for Barack Obama. However, after his humble and very real victory speech about the hard work that lies ahead, I was optimistic about the direction of his administration in regards to bringing everyone together.
Wow, boy was I wrong. I received a phoenominal reality check when I opened up the paper to see the Rahm Emanuel actually accepted the position of Chief of Staff for the Obama Presidency. I think I just through up in my mouth a little bit.
Rahm, affectionately termed "Rahmbo" is one of the most partisan members of congress. He votes with his party 98% of the time and affectionately told the Republican Party not too long ago to go "F*** themselves."
Oh wait, it gets even better.
Other famous scenes from the new made-for-White House-Movie... Rahmbo.
1. Sent a dead fish to a pollster who didn't like him... how Luca Brasi of him?
2. He told British Prime Minister Tony Blair right before a press conference with then President Bill Clinton: "This is important... don't f*** it up."
3. This is the most hilarious of all, Tablegate. In 1992 after Bill Clinton declared victory, everyone was celebrating, excepting for Rahm who was possibly contemplating murder. He proceeded to jump on a chair and list off all of Clinton's enemies. After each name he then screamed "DEAD!" and stabbed a steak knife into the table, obviously and homage the Hitchcock thriller "Psycho".
Change is needed, but at what price? The tone of bipartisanship that poured through the Obama campaign has to be somewhere right? I hope so, because even though I disagree with Obama on pretty much everything, I think he knows what he is doing. With the next few weeks comes cabinet appointments, and he needs to reach across the aisle, or we were in for one of the biggest con-jobs in American political history. To put it the way Rahm would, I hope he doesn't F*** this up.
